The Archers
Winners of BC's Best Teen Band Contest
The Archers were recently crowned "BC's Best Teen Band" by YouThink Magazine.
The five friends creating this indie-folk sound are Ethan Caleb, Sandy Hughes, Liam McLaren, Liam Moes, and Robert McMullen, all of whom pride themselves on being multi-talented musicians, songwriters, and performers. They share the roles of guitar, piano, bass, drums, mandolin, banjo, and percussion, creating a fresh folk resonance, harmony, and energy.
The band was formed in early 2010 by songwriters Hughes and Caleb. Moes and McLaren joined on drums and bass a few months later. Performing as “The Shenanigans,” the fellows played gigs around their community and high school and helped plan and perform at a fundraiser to build schools in Africa. The band eventually expanded to a five-piece, adding Robert McMullen on bass with McLaren moving to piano, guitar, and mandolin. Since then the band has continued to take off.
The Archers are continually involved with their community, participating in non-profit performances. Their first independently-organized benefit resulted in one thousand dollars being donated to the BC Children's Hospital. They, and their friends, also raised two thousand dollars for music education in their school district through the musical benefit, Music-Aid.
The adventures of this young, up and coming band have just begun. Come see them at Fun Day.
